Retention Marketing
Attracting a new customer is 5-7 times more expensive than selling to an existing one. Retention Marketing (retention marketing) focuses precisely on ensuring that a customer who bought from you once stays with you forever. It's about loyalty, LTV (Lifetime Value) and turning customers into brand fans.

Retention Marketing tools

Retention does not work because of advertising in front. Relationships work here: 1. Email mailings - personalized letters ("You forgot the goods in the basket", "Happy birthday, here's a discount"). 2. Loyalty programs - bonuses, cashback, closed clubs for regular customers. 3. Personalization - product recommendations based on previous purchases (like Amazon does). 4. Excellent service (Customer Success) - fast support that solves problems before the customer gets angry.

Key metric: Churn Rate

At the heart of retention is the fight against Churn Rate. If every month you attract 100 new customers, but 90 old ones leave, your business is not growing. The marketer's task is to find the reason for the outflow and "patch the holes" in the funnel.

Examples in various niches

01SaaS (Software)

Regular webinars on new features so that the client uses the product better and does not unsubscribe.

02E-commerce

An automatic letter 30 days after the purchase of dog food with an offer to order more (because the old one is running out).

/ FAQ

From the first day. It makes no sense to pour $10,000 into advertising (Acquisition) if customers run away after the first purchase due to poor service.
